Meet The
Midwife
I felt I was called to midwifery about ten
years ago but actively pursued it five years
ago. Through my training, my eyes were open
to the lack of evidence-based,
compassionate care for women in the
childbearing years. With each woman I
served, my passion grew and my dedication
deepened. I wanted to learn as much as I
could. It often felt like I was created to be a
midwife. It felt so natural and some of it
came easily to me.
Now, on the other side of my training, I have
my CPM, LM, and BSM*. I have attended over
a 100+ births with hundreds of prenatals and
postpartum visits for mother and baby. This
includes thousands of hours of clinical work.
I currently work out of Fenton/Hartland area
serving the women and families that come
my way. I work with another midwife and my
assistants to provide care in the best way.
*CPM - Certified Professional Midwife. LM - Licensed Midwife, required to
practice legally in Michigan. BSM - Bachelors degree in Science of
Midwifery
- I believe in the Midwifery Model of Care. This is different from the
Medical Model of Care found at many hospitals. The Midwife
Model couples the best of modern medicine to a traditional, client-
centered approach by equipping the woman and her family with
tools to make decisions. As midwives, we believe that pregnancy is
a natural process and works best when interventions are at a
minimum. Rather than viewing birth as an emergency procedure or
an illness to be treated, it sees the Creator’s handiwork. The birth
process is normal, natural, and innately beautiful.
Pregnancy is Natural
- My main purpose is to provide you with
care that is compassionate, respectful,
and centered around you and your
family. I am devoted to providing you
with the most current evidence-based
information, coupled with clinical
practice, so that you may be properly
informed and able to make decisions
that are right for you and your baby.
Comprehensive Care
- There will be a lot of decisions to make
and procedures you may or may not
want. You will be given all your
options, and have the right to refuse or
request the ones you and your loved
ones desire. I strongly believe in
informed consent and strive to
practice it well. This is not my birth; I
will help guide you, but this is
ultimately your birth and your baby.
